You should contact your local council to clarify a suburb name or boundary.
Under the Geographic Place Names Act 1998, local councils are responsible for determining suburb, town and rural district names and boundaries within their municipality. They do this by following appropriate consultation with essential service organisations and the community.
The local council notifies the Registrar of Geographic Names of new or altered names and boundaries for inclusion in the state's official Register of Geographic Names (VICNAMES).
The Registrar of Geographic Names holds the original plans for Victoria. These plans are available for inspection at the Registrar's office at Level 17, 570 Bourke Street, Melbourne.
