Infrastructure contributions reform
The Government has introduced the Planning and Environment Amendment (Infrastructure Contributions) Bill 2015 that provides for a new simple, standardised and transparent infrastructure contributions system for levying development contributions towards the provision of local infrastructure in growth and strategic development areas across Victoria. The Bill is based on the recommendations of the Standard Development Contributions Advisory Committee.
Reformed zones for Victoria
Reformed zones for Victoria have been prepared and introduced to better respond to present-day requirements.
VicSmart – a simpler permit process
The Planning and Environment Amendment (VicSmart Planning Assessment) Act 2012 amends the Planning and Environment Act 1987 to enable a streamlined assessment process for straightforward planning permit applications to be set up in planning schemes. VicSmart is now in operation.

The Planning and Environment Amendment (General) Act 2013 introduces a range of improvements to the operation of the planning system.
New planning guidelines for greyhound facilities across Victoria
The government is considering making changes to the way that greyhound keeping and training facilities are managed in Victoria's planning system. Submissions closed on 7 October 2016.
