Until August 2009, Local Government Victoria (LGV) conducted investigations into breaches of the Local Government Act 1989. Reports of investigations conducted by LGV are below.

On 12 August 2009, the Victorian Government announced the establishment of a new and independent Local Government Investigations and Compliance Inspectorate as a separate administrative office headed by a Chief Municipal Inspector. Find out about the role and functions of the Inspectorate.
