Current recommendations open for comment

The Executive Director of Heritage Victoria has made the following recommendations to the Heritage Council to include or not include places or objects in the Victorian Heritage Register. These recommendations are made under Section 32 and Section 54 of the Heritage Act 1995.

Owners and people with an interest in the place or object now have the opportunity to comment on these recommendations in the form of a written submission. Please note that all written submissions will be treated as public documents. While the Heritage Council will endeavour to respect any privacy wishes of which it is informed, it is bound by the Freedom of Information Act 1982. You should expect your submission to be freely and wholly available to anyone seeking access to it.

Owners of a place/object subject to an Executive Director recommendation have a number of rights and obligations to ensure that the place/object is protected prior to the Heritage Council making a decision about whether it should or should not be included in the Victorian Heritage Register. If the Heritage Council includes a place/object in the Victorian Heritage Register, it is legally protected to help ensure it survives for future generations. The implications of registration are explained in Registration by the Heritage Council (PDF 288.8 KB).

Registration means that proposed works and alterations to the place/object are subject to a permits process, as explained in Works and Alterations to Registered Heritage Places and Objects (PDF 346.3 KB).
